One of the best purchase of the year. A great book! Since I got it in my hands, I’m jumping around all the pages and I don’t know where to stop. It’s full of stories, feelings, emotions and thoughts. I will never get tired.
More over the book has a stunning, high quality, layout and wonderful pictures.
Big hug from Italy and be proud, you guys did an amazing job!

It took less than 30 minutes of reading Stompbox before I admitted to myself that I didn’t want this book to end. Ever. Every other page gifted me with insight from some of my favorites: Daniel Ash here, Adrian Belew there; David Torn back a few pages, Steve Hackett just ahead. And my own forever guitar hero, Alex Lifeson, speaking about his Boss CE-1 and THAT CHORUS SOUND that inspired me to pick up the guitar in 1982 at age of 12.
A fan may drool over the sheer volume of beautiful photos and insightful stories here, but a thoughtful reader will soon realize that his/her heroes get that same feeling of butterflies at their sonic stompbox explorations as we all do, and if nothing else, this book makes us feel even more connected to these players and their sounds. Maybe it’s precisely that feeling of connection that I don’t want to end. May you allow this beautiful book to fuel your never ending feeling, too.

As most 40 year old children I have a terrible time waiting for things. So when the USPS finally got me my copy of this book I was beyond excited. I am not a reader, except for Playboy (for the articles of course.) That being said this book is absolutely incredible. It is actually more of a piece of art than a book. The pictures and stories that I have read so far are beyond interesting. I am totally blow away by the quality and amount of information in this book. I was not sure if I should buy this or put the money towards another pedal. I not only made the right choice I wish I would have bought the other book too. This is truly a must have for any fan of music. Eilon was great through the entire process too. Answering any questions I had and updating me with shipping. Check this out you will not be disappointed.

Must have for pedal lovers, guitar geeks and music aficionados. Jumped to the memory man deluxe pedal first (my fav pedal ) to read the stories behind it. Layout is gorgeous, pics are crisp and you’ll just love holding and looking at it!

  5. Brad Burritt

The Brick was a no brainer to purchase. I’d have regretted just buying only the Stompbox book. Both books a beautifully laid out. The photos look like you could reach in and tweak the knobs or grab the pedal. (wishful thinking!) There are great stories from pedal makers and the amazing guitarists that use the pedals. So much pedal history and stories that shaped music as we know it. I appreciate the Vintage and Rarities to get to see and learn about pedals I’ll most likely never encounter or play. I’m sure I’ve heard them all on records somewhere. As a music nerd and gear history nut I love reading of the evolution and development of music in all genres. This project was truly a labour of love. I am thankful that the Stompbox book and the Vintage & Rarities has been shared with the world. Great job!!

I received this book unexpectedly for Christmas and was blown away. The best word for it is monumental. Going far beyond just gear porn imagery, and history (though it has plenty of that as well) the absolute brilliance of this book is the thoughtful insight from musicians, artists who actually use the tools, regarding what they choose to use and why. This isn’t a book you read cover to cover and then put on your shelf to forget, it’s one you can open to any page at any time and find something wonderful and inspirational.

  7. Brainblob

I received this book for christmas and was completely blown away! The stories and guitarists featured are really cool and the book is serious quality!
I’m anxious to purchase the rarities book as well, couldn’t recommend Stompbox enough, you will be very pleased!

  8. Matt

Great book and excellent customer service!

  9. Jonathan

Beautifully put together! A true delight

A true work of art from beginning to end . Amazing photography & beautifully written. Perhaps there should of been a sub heading of ‘pedals I have owned & pedals I wished I had owned ‘ . I think once I finally finish reading it ill just start again.

  11. Gustav Nygren

This book is a treat. Well-written, no-nonsense texts about active musicians’ tools, with razor-sharp images of the well-used, and in many cases beat-up, effects pedals. Every stompbox tells a story. My way of reading this book is to take an effects pedal every night as a goodnight story – an effective way to keep me inspired. But any way of reading it will be satisfying. Highly recommended to anyone interested in music crafts and guitar gear!

Such a fun book to read!

  13. John J. Potter

An excellent book that displays creative “tools” imbued with the markings of time and compelling use like a long used painter’s palette; and like the palette, these devices have the power to inspire, to urge the artist forward in the quest for epiphany. Artist’s thoughts populate the pages; and this, along with beautiful photos of each pedal serve the reader well. This book is just breath-taking to browse! As a modular synthesist I was also taken with the section investigating the use of “guitar pedals” with other instruments including synths rarely thought of in other books on stompboxes. I can safely say this is the BEST book on the topic – Thanks to all who contributed.

The Stompbox book is fantastic! Every pedal geek will absolutely LOVE it!!!

    I love it!

As a former physicist (i.e. a technology geek) and someone with a full-on pedal addiction, this book is gorgeous and full of great stories related to some of the most famous guitar pedals in history. Not only is the book beautifully laid out, but the photography and the writing really help make for a book that is a beautiful to look at as it is exciting to read. I can’t wait to dive in further and read it cover to cover. And of course, I have a feeling this will only further the need for a few more guitar pedals.

I pre-ordered this book after seeing a very effective add on Instagram. It looked interesting so I thought I’d give it a shot. This fantastic book has easily surpassed my expectations.

First of all, the creator of the book, Eilon, is first-class. Soon after placing my order, I received an automated email saying that the book had shipped, but after a week there was no tracking information. So, I emailed the “info” address and was pleasantly surprised to receive a reply within a few hours. Eilon wrote to me personally, apologizing for the delay and explaining that there was some kind of snafu with the warehouse due to COVID, but that the book would be shipping soon. I certainly didn’t expect this prompt and detailed response, especially during the book’s initial release, but Eilon seems to be the kind of person who doesn’t skimp on things. (This shipping problem occurred in November 2020, so I’m sure it’s not an issue anymore now that it’s March 2021.) Anyway, the book arrived soon after that with no issues.

As for the book itself, it’s beautiful. It is professionally put together, with detailed photographs of all 100 pedals and an accompanying interview or article about the artist that chose each pedal. The articles are entertaining, informative, and well written. Even if you don’t own the exact pedal the artist is discussing, you’ll still find tons of inspiration reading about why each guitarist code that pedal, and how they use it to achieve their own unique sound. The 100 guitarists run the gamut from people you’ve definitely heard of (Jimi Hendrix, Joe Satriani, Frank Zappa, Stevie Ray Vaughan, etc.) to players that may be a bit lesser-known but are just as inspiring. There’s a very good chance you’ll want to add a few of these pedals to your collection!

Even better, the “100 pedals” section is only actually about 60% of the book! The rest of this hefty tome (totaling over 500 pages) consists of five guitar-effect-related articles, including “Thinking Inside the Box: A Pedal Innovators’ Roundtable” and “J’s Big Muff Museum” with J Mascis.

The book is worth every penny. If you’re reading this, you’ve probably spent a fair amount of money on guitar gear over the years, so there’s a high likelihood that you’ll enjoy this book too. Plus, buying it supports Eilon and his team, who are clearly extremely passionate gear-heads themselves.

Honestly, I’m kicking myself for not buying the combo package with the other book on rare and vintage effects.

“Stompbox” is an entertaining and beautiful book, obviously made with love and passion. If you love guitar playing, chances are pretty good you’ll love this book, too. Enjoy, and rock on!

I got em both, the 100 stomp boxes and vintage rarities. I forgot how just the smell of a real book’s pages gives me the warm and fuzzies. It’s like sitting on the floor again in front of Dad’s faux wood grain speakers and reading the liner notes on the Live and Dangerous album sleeve. These books are pieces of art really, no doubt they will end up being just as collectible as the pedals within it are. Consider this, I’m reading an actual book while the internet is working just fine, that should say it all. Thank you so much Eilon, the countless hours you clearly put into this has created something that people are going to be enjoying for generations to come.
