Editor’s Note | August 2020

Greetings, Stompbox fans.

This has certainly been a weird and challenging summer so far, with good news often in sadly short supply. So hopefully it’ll bring a smile to your face when I inform you that, after years spent scaling Stompbox Mountain, we have finally reached our summit!

It’s been a long, hard slog to get it here, but Stompbox: 100 Pedals of the World’s Greatest Guitarists is now very much in the layout stage, as we prepare its eye-popping pages to ship to the printer next month. There have been some notable last-minute additions to our project, including pedals belonging to Alex Lifeson, Dimebag Darrell, Eric Gales, Mark Speer of Khraungbin, Matt Pike of High On Fire/Sleep, and Ed O’Brien of Radiohead—the latter of whom has also kindly consented to pen the book’s foreword!

Stompbox: 100 Pedals of the World’s Greatest Guitarists will be published November 30, 2020, just in time for the holiday season. To say we’re excited about all of this would be to understate the case severely…

Stompbox: 100 Pedals Of the World’s Greatest Guitarists. Coming November 30, 2020.

Joining our long-awaited book at the printer will be Vintage & Rarities, our photographic salute to 333 cool, rare and unusual effects pedals, which also includes interviews with 25 notable pedal collectors from around the world. Vintage & Rarities will be available only in a hardcover coffee table edition that can be ordered online as part of a special Stompbox Brick bundle with Stompbox: 100 Pedals of the World’s Greatest Guitarists. If you dig the history and aesthetics of guitar pedals as much as we do, you’ll definitely want both of our books in your home library!

Vintage & Rarities: 333 Cool, Crazy and Hard To Find Guitar Pedals. A companion book to Stompbox.

Pre-orders will begin in mid September on the Stompbox website.

In the meantime, please stay safe and wear a mask. Oh, and check out our blog for some cool things you might have missed, like our visits with Mike Stern and Dean Ween. We’ve got plenty more to come, too!

Rock on,

Dan
